Past Simple

PAST SIMPLE USES

Hi kids!!! Today we are going to talk about the PAST SIMPLE TENSE.
You could think that is a little bit difficult, but you just need to practise a bit and follow carefully the instructions and the following explanation. Let’s start with it!

The simple past tense show us an action that have happened in a specific moment in the past. If the verb is regular, we have to add “-ed” always.

If the verb is irregular we have to know by heart the own form for each irregular verb.

There is only one verb that change: verb “to be”
Examples:
· She finished school last year -> va acabar l’escola l’any passat.
· to listen (escoltar) -> listened

But we only have to add “d” when de regular verb is finisher by “e”
Example: to change (canviar) -> changed

Negative and interrogation form

To make questions in the past simple tense we have to used the auxiliar “to do”, so we will put “did” always.
Example: Did you go to the party? -> vas anar a la festa?
To say make a negative sentence we will use the auxiliar (to do, “did”) in the past tense plass “Not(did not = didn't).

Example: I didn´t go to the party -> no vaig anar a la festa.
